The dream started back in 2006 when founder Jez Lamb got a group of friends together for a beer tasting party and the idea was born! After the success of the first tasting party, friends would ask when the next one would be and after about half a dozen or so hugely enjoyable evenings the dream started to become a reality.
Back in the mid-2000’s, the beer ‘market’ wasn’t what it is today and that combined with a successful career in IT, plus a growing young family the idea was put on ice for a while.
Now to the present day and a bold decision to embark on a new venture and bringing you Beers@No.42 – the home of beer tasting. Having traded the “9 to 5” for days of sampling beer, Jez is now living a lot of peoples dream and is passionate about taking people out of their comfort zones when it comes to tasting beer.
P.S The very first party was in direct response to Jez’s wife being invited to a pudding tasting party and the respective husband’s wanting something to do themselves!
It’s all about the taste! Yes, that’s what we’re all about as we want you to enjoy the tasting experience from sampling some of the most unusual beers we’ve carefully selected for you.
Our ethos is very much centred around drinking responsibly and the way we recommend you host your tasting party means that you’ll get to sample a good variety of beers in smaller quantities. Don’t worry though, you’ll still get a good feel for what each beer is all about.
The Government, working with the Chief Medical Officers' guideline for both men and women states that: “To keep health risks from alcohol to a low level it is safest not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis. If you regularly drink as much as 14 units per week, it's best to spread your drinking evenly over three or more days.”
Like any advice, it’s up to yourself whether you take it on board but we like to think that our approach with our tasting party packs allows you to enjoy the experience of tasting a variety of beers but in a responsible way.
We only market our products to people over the age of 18 and we fully support the Challenge 25 campaign so please don’t be offended if our delivery drivers ask you for ID if you’re lucky enough to look under the age of 25!
We also support the views of the The Drinkaware Trust, an independent UK-wide alcohol education charity, funded largely by voluntary and unrestricted donations from UK alcohol producers, retailers and supermarkets. The Trust is governed independently and works in partnership with others to help reduce alcohol-related harm by helping people make better choices about their drinking.
Now that’s enough of your time we’ve taken up – get browsing our selections!
Enjoy your beer!
